Petition e-3274: Canadians demand Defense of Human Rights in Cuba. Speaking-up about human rights abuses in Cuba.
The silence of most Canadian media about human rights abuses in Cuba is not surprising, but appalling. For most of the media, Cuba is as the exotic tourist “paradise” that Canadians very much like, it’s just beaches, mojitos, salsa, and for some, “jineteras” (prostitutes in the Cuban lingo) and other sexual "businesses." Nothing about the recent arbitrarily detention, intimidation and imprisonment of independent artists, journalists and members of the political opposition as denounced by Amnesty International.
Lately we have seen a nationwide movement of Cuban artists, intellectuals and human rights activists who are raising their voices in support of individual liberties in Cuba and they have made urgent calls to the international community for solidarity and support. But the Canadian media prefer to ignore this movement. Silence, nada.

Castro's baseball federation protests against protest posters.
The opening game of the Pre-Olympic Baseball Tournament between Cuba and Venezuela will be remembered in the history of these events not only because of the fierce competition on the field, but also because of the unprecedented number of people who attended the game to protest and make visible their position against the Cuban regime.
Several of the attendees showed signs with slogans reading "Freedom", "Homeland and Life", which were placed in strategic places to be captured by the broadcasting cameras and, therefore, visible to all Cubans on the island enjoying the game.
Others also wore T-shirts with texts and even photographs of the artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, who was released from captivity in the "Calixto GarcĂa" hospital while the game was taking place.

Castro's economic model insists on failure. Exports and imports in Cuba: the failure of the Malmierca model.
HAVANA, Cuba. ─ Since August 2020, the so-called Malmierca model of export promotion for private agents has been operating in Cuba. To date, no official data have been provided on its impact on the foreign sector. There is only fragmentary information on contracts and sales.
It should be recalled that the model arose for two reasons. First, to alleviate the shortage of foreign currency in the economy as a result of the paralysis of tourism. Second, to place the State as an agent to control the foreign trade activities of private agents, a way to limit enrichment.
The Malmierca model establishes procedures for exports and imports by the so-called "non-state management forms", based on the mandatory provision of foreign trade services through specialized companies dependent on the State.

Remembering Boitel on the 49th anniversary of his departure. In tribute to Pedro Luis Boitel on a new anniversary of the death in prison of the leader and anti-Castro fighter who preferred to die free than to live as a slave of a tyrant. A crime of Castroism that will not go unpunished. His sacrifice and his example are an incentive not to give up the struggle and to nail to the public pillory the traitors and merchants who want to make a pact with tyranny by stepping over the pools of blood of our dead brothers.
We present the video in "Homage to Pedro Luis Boitel" (Video Source "Me es muy difĂcil perdonar" - Mother of Pedro Luis Boitel by Karel Becerra) and an article by Martha Pardiño published in Nuevo AcciĂłn with Fragments from the diary of a fellow prisoner of the martyr Pedro Luis Boitel.
