Top Obama-administration officials were aware that Hunter Biden’s position on the board of directors of a Ukrainian gas firm was problematic but ignored repeated warnings from senior officials, according to a report by Republicans on two Senate committees.

In 2014, Hunter Biden, son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, joined the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company owned by an oligarch whom U.S. authorities viewed as corrupt. The Senate Finance and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committees concluded that the problems with Hunter Biden’s role with Burisma extended beyond mere perception of a conflict of interest and had an impact on U.S. policy in Ukraine.

Senate Report: H Biden's business dealings a 'counterintelligence concern'. Hunter Biden’s Business Dealings Created ‘Counterintelligence And Extortion Concerns,’ Senate Report Says

Hunter Biden’s financial dealings with Ukrainian, Russian and Chinese businesses created potential “criminal financial, counterintelligence and extortion concerns,” according to a report by two Senate committees.
The report details a series of wire transfers between Biden and a businessman with extensive ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
The report, written by the Senate Homeland Security and Senate Finance committees, also states that State Department officials repeatedly raised concerns about Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma Holdings.
One official testified that he told Joe Biden in October 2015 that his son’s links to Burisma “enabled Russian disinformation efforts.”

US Catholics increasing support for Trump. Trump has been called the most pro-life president in history. That, along with his appeals to faith, family, and patriotism are very attractive to more devout Catholics.

The Catholic vote in America used to be a monolith, with up to 80 percent of Catholics supporting the Democratic candidate for president. Those days are gone, but the Catholic vote — especially in the northeast and upper midwest — is crucial. Catholics have voted for the presidential winner in 8 of the last 9 elections. They make up about 22 percent of the electorate.

But Catholics are riven by divisions between those who say they mostly follow the Church’s teachings and those who don’t. More conservative Catholics have been trending Republican in recent elections and that trend is expected to accelerate when Catholics go to the polls in November and vote for Trump.

Senate approves subpoenas to Obama officials. Senate Panel Approves Subpoenas Related To Russia Probe, Obama Admin.

On Wednesday, the Senate Homeland Security Committee voted to approve dozens of subpoenas related to the Obama administration’s Russia investigation. The panel has approved calling upwards of 40 people, including former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.
