Facebook announced this week that it may restrict certain aspects of its platform following Novemberâs general election as part of a larger effort to limit social unrest. A spokesperson for Facebook suggested that executives including Sheryl Sandberg and Mark Zuckerberg may censor specific information if they believe it is likely to heighten political tensions following the election.
According to a report by the Financial Times, Facebook announced this week that it will ârestrict the circulation of contentâ following Novemberâs election to curb violence and social unrest. The announcement follows efforts by Facebook to address concerns from those who have alleged that the platform aids in voter suppression and promotes election-misinformation.

Twitter censors/suspends anticommunist Chinese virologist account.
Twitter suspended the account of a Chinese virologist who claims China is concealing evidence that coronavirus was manufactured in a research lab, the New York Post reported.
Scientist Dr. Li-Meng Yanâs account was suspended after she accused the Chinese Communist Party of developing the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 in a research lab and then weaponizing the virus. The former researcher at the Hong Kong School of Public Health told Fox News host Tucker Carlson Tuesday night that China does not want âpeople to know this truth.â

Facebook, Twitter algorithms could be investigated by DOJ. Fmr Acting AG Whitaker: Facebook, Twitter Algorithms Could Be Viewed by DOJ as an âIllegal Campaign Contributionâ
Friday, during an appearance on Fox News Channelâs âTucker Carlson Tonight,â former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker argued for a Department of Justice investigation into how Facebook and Twitter were altering their algorithms for the sake of politics.
Whitaker told host Tucker Carlson he did not see American democracy surviving another election cycle under the circumstances by which those social media outlets function.

Google appeared to test its ability to blacklist conservative media Tuesday from its monopolized search engine which garners at least 3.5 billion online searches everyday making up 94 percent of the internetâs search share.
Websites targeted, according to NewsBusters which itself was temporarily de-platformed, included the Washington Free Beacon, The Blaze, Townhall, The Daily Wire, PragerU, LifeNews, Project Veritas, Judicial Watch, The Resurgent, Breitbart, the Media Research Center, and CNSNews among others.
