The Shadow of Power: Who Really Governs the United States?

The shadow of power: Who really governs the United States? The Shadow of Power: Who Really Governs the United States?

In recent months, concern about who is really in charge in the White House has been growing. Several recent articles shed light on a situation that many feared. Still, few dared to express openly: the possibility that President Joe Biden is not in full control of his administration and that, instead, there is a "shadow government" led by former President Barack Obama.

Biden’s Inner Circle: Protectors or Controllers?

According to Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, an investigation has been launched into who is really "calling the shots" in the Biden administration. Comer has issued subpoenas to three little-known members of the White House staff, whom he describes as Biden's "gatekeepers."

On the other hand, inside sources reveal that Biden's inner circle has shrunk further since the June 27 debate that jeopardized his re-election campaign. Today, Biden appears to be increasingly reliant on longtime advisers such as Mike Donilon, Steve Ricchetti and Bruce Reed, who some in the White House refer to as "the poobahs" or "the gray hairs."

Obama’s Growing Influence

In November 2020, Obama made a statement that now seems prophetic. In an interview with Stephen Colbert, he said he would be willing to serve a third term if he could "have a stand-in" while he gave the instructions from his basement. This statement takes on new meaning in light of recent events.

According to several media outlets, including CNN, the New York Times, and The Washington Post, Obama has been increasingly making his presence felt in the Biden White House. A senior Biden advisor told CNN that Obama "has been generous with his time and has made it very clear that he is fully engaged in this campaign."

ABC News reported in November 2023 that Obama helped draft the new White House artificial intelligence policy that Biden implemented. This suggests a direct influence on the current administration's decision making.

Concerns About a “Shadow Government.”

Comer raises troubling questions about who is really in charge. "Who has been making these decisions? I mean, the White House has admitted that [Biden] only works from eight to four - which I think is overblown - but you know, a lot is going on before eight in the morning and after four in the afternoon," Comer notes.
A Wall Street Journal article published in May 2023 was headlined "This is Obama's Third Term," noting the large number of current Biden staffers who worked under the Obama administration. This reinforces the idea of continuity in actual leadership behind the scenes.

The Implications for American Democracy

If the allegations are true, this raises serious national security concerns. As Comer points out, "If we have three or four low-level staffers who have been deciding what weapons to send to Ukraine, how to do an executive order limiting drilling that leads to higher gas prices, which creates more inflation - if these three or four staffers that nobody has listened to have been making those decisions, then I think there are a lot of people who need to be held accountable."
The situation also raises questions about transparency in government. If Biden's inner circle is effectively controlling the flow of information, how can citizens be sure that the best decisions are being made for the country?

Evidence of Obama's Influence

In March 2024, Obama paid a one-hour "courtesy call" to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street in London. This unannounced meeting has generated speculation about its purpose and its relationship to subsequent international events.
At a recent fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall in New York, Biden appeared alongside Obama and Bill Clinton. Although officially presented as a strategy to increase donations, some speculate that the presence of the former presidents was necessary to compensate for Biden's limitations.

Conclusion

The mounting evidence of Obama's influence on the Biden administration raises serious questions about the nature of current leadership in the United States. As the House Oversight Committee investigation moves forward and more voices join the debate, it is crucial that the American public remain vigilant. Democracy is about transparency and accountability. If there really is a "shadow government" led by Obama, as all indications seem to suggest, it is imperative that it comes to light for the future of American democracy....
The debate over who really governs the United States will likely continue to be a topic of discussion and analysis in the coming months.
