Florida Legislature Approves Civic Education

Published: 23 May 2021

Florida Legislature Approves Civic Education.

A constitutional republic that exercises the democratic self-government model, requires a civic-minded, politically vigilant, and morally conscientious citizenry. Florida continues to be a trailblazer in the fight to defend freedom and uphold the preconditional elements for the permanence of an open society. The Sunshine State’s legislature approved, on April 26th, a civic education curriculum requirement, HB 5 (House version) and SB 1450 (Senate version).

Governor Ron DeSantis is poised to sign this seminal bill into law, which would go into effect on July 1st. Pedagogic measures such as this, serve the purposes of empowering a republican society with civic awareness, as well as combating the onslaught of cultural Marxism’s Critical Race Theory throughout the nation’s schools. If done right, Florida can potentially set a national educational standard for America.

Florida’s Civic Education Curriculum (CEC) would revamp social studies high school credit requirements for graduation. The state’s Department of Education (DOE) would be ordered to produce or approve integrated civic curricula for public and charter schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. School districts and charter schools could submit curricula material to the DOE for validation, or they could adopt approved versions.

Relieved Space Force Officer Is Correct: Military Must Expunge Marxism.

A commander of the 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, was relieved of duty on Friday, May 14th. The alleged infraction that spurred the firing dealt with a May 7th podcast interview given to CD Media on the “Information Operation” program to promote the military officer’s recently self-published book, Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military. During the referenced podcast, Lohmeier touched upon a systemic crisis in America due to Marxist infiltration, highlighting impacted institutions like the media, universities, federal agencies, and the Armed Forces.

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, a 2006 graduate of the U. S. Air Force Academy, has over 1,200 flying hours as a T-38 aircraft pilot and an F-15C pilot instructor. With expertise in space-based missile warning systems, the commander transitioned in October 2020 to the military’s newest branch, the U. S. Space Force, where he was in command, prior to his relief of duty, of a space-based missile warning platoon. Additionally, Lohmeier holds two master’s degrees. One in military operational art and science, and the second in the field of philosophy in military strategy.

‘Being in the Opposition in Cuba is Well Worth It’: An Interview with José Daniel Ferrer

‘Being in the Opposition in Cuba is Well Worth It’: An Interview with José Daniel Ferrer.

El American had the opportunity, as part of its series of short interviews, to talk with Cuban dissident and human rights activist José Daniel Ferrer. During the spring of 2003, he was unjustly arrested in the so-called Black Spring Of Cuba cause and, consequently, these courageous opponents became known as the Group of 75, after the number of those imprisoned on that occasion.

Among numerous distinctions, Ferrer has received the XIII International Human Rights Award from the Fundación Hispano-Cubana and the Democracy Award from the National Endowment for Democracy.

Ferrer endured political imprisonment for eight long years in which he was subjected to numerous tortures and carried out a number of hunger strikes in Castro’s dungeons. The patriotic tasks have never ceased. Nor have the arbitrary arrests, the torture, the harassment of him and his family by the Cuban dictatorship and hunger strikes as a method of struggle. The Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), an organization Ferrer helped found in 2011, is considered by many to be the largest with an active opposition force within the island and represented in exile in numerous countries.

The Cruel and Unusual Punishment in D.C. Jails that No One Is Talking About

The Cruel and Unusual Punishment in D.C. Jails that No One Is Talking About.

The Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution explicitly forbids the cruel and unusual treatment of prisoners. Conceptually drawing upon the civil rights concerns found in the English Bill of Rights (1689), the language reads in the American case: “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” Unbeknown to many, as the corporate media has been downplaying this news, within a minuscule distance from the American seat of the federal government are approximately 1,500 detained individuals being subjected to prison standards that arguably equate “cruel and unusual punishments.” To make matters far worse, there is a political and ideological underpinning, guiding this selective course of inhuman prisoner treatment in the District of Columbia’s (D.C.) jail.

Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser and the D.C. local government are the responsible entities for the nefarious conditions that are discriminately being applied to the January 6th rioters held in cells within their legal jurisdiction. The mentioned over 1,500 inmates are confined to their cells for 22 hours a day. Of those, around 300 are held in solitary confinement. D.C. authorities categorize this smaller group as being under a “medical stay-in-place” policy. The D.C. Department of Corrections guidelines exclusively formulates this isolation extremity treatment for prisoners that fall under the condition of “sexual predators,” individuals engaged in “assaultive behavior,” “likely to be exploited or victimized by others,” and/or possess any “other documented special need.”
