Castroism’s Recent Economic Rehashing.

Another venture into regime-directed economic reformulations that could potentially serve social domestication and political durability.

János Kornai, the Hungarian economist, was most correct when he declared in his classic The Socialist System: The Political Economy of Communism (1988) that “socialism is irreformable”. The former communist discovered early on that Marxian economic models breed what he coined a “shortage economy”. Vladimir Lenin’s New Economic Policy (1921) was one example of a desperate attempt to save socialism from collapse by tempering radical collectivization schemes with politically controlled flirtations with state capitalism. Castroism’s recent economic rehashing is another venture into regime-directed economic reformulations that could potentially serve social domestication and political durability.

Communist China has perfected this prototype. Vietnam followed suit. The “China Model” (a/k/a Socialism with Chinese Characteristics) and Vietnam’s “Đoi Moi” are both a sociopolitical configuration of a Marxist-Leninist state with a hybrid economic system consisting of a regime-driven model that utilizes modern concepts and practices of the market, the international division of labor, finance, and trade for the purposes of staying in power and promoting socialism. Key to sustaining the dictatorial hold requires the money (lots of it) to pay for the elaborate network of repressive state terrorism, and the ability to domesticate, both, internal society and the diaspora. This China and Vietnam have been able to comfortably achieve. Castro-Communism has been trying to accomplish the same thing for decades but has consistently failed.

Why We Celebrate Columbus Day.

Defenders of a free republic, here in the United States and across the Americas, should appreciate the work of the Great Admiral of the Ocean and challenge the dirty war against him.

On October 12, 1492, an Italian explorer at the service of Spain discovered the American continent. The feat that Christopher Columbus achieved was monumental and the legacy even more so. Up until 1971, when the holiday’s observance was changed to the second Monday of October in the United States, the celebration of the New World’s discovery was consistent throughout most of the Western Hemisphere. Enemies and other haters of Christianity, Western Civilization, republican governance, and free societies have made it a mission since the late 1980s to character assassinate the great Genovese navigator. Why, whom, and for what?

The Pamphleteering of Castro’s Crooked Education Claims.

It has been a long-standing myth that Cuban communism is an educational giant. The evidence contradicts this propaganda stunt. It’s a shame that media like Axios play the role of puppets and misinform.

Fidel Castro’s ideological coup d’état on the movement to oust the authoritarian regime of Fulgencio Batista ushered in Cuban communism. From its prenatal state in the Sierra Maestra Mountains, his rhetoric was founded and nurtured upon lies. A complicit American media facilitated the proliferation of all the falsehoods of the closet tropical Marxists. Herbert Matthews— a New York Times reporter who first interviewed Castro in the Oriente province mountains in 1957—lied to the world about the number of “guerrillas” present, their activities, and the socialist inclinations of the Castro brothers. The deceit on the media’s part continues to this day. Axios published on October 5 a pamphleteered piece on Castro’s crooked education claims.

How Communist Cuba is Exterminating the Opposition: A Conversation with Dr. Omar Vento.

The unprecedented Cuban Uprising of July 11th initiated a barbaric response from the communist dictatorship to regain control of the public spheres.

El American had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Omar Vento, both a doctor of internal medicine and gastroenterologist and the president of the Foundation for Pan American Democracy, an NGO dedicated to protecting human rights and republican governance across the Americas. Dr. Vento detailed how the Cuban regime has been handling the COVID crisis.

The political prisoner population is especially susceptible to this situation. Many are questioning whether this is a regime-driven strategy to wipe out the opposition in the Island. Dr. Vento believes that is the case.
