The Myth of the Cuban Blockade: Analysis of Senator Marco Rubio's Speech
Introduction
The Castro dictatorship panicked when it learned that Senator Marco Rubio would be the US Secretary of State nominated by Trump, and redoubled its disinformation campaign to continue deceiving the world by spreading the idea that the cause of the poverty, hunger and economic crisis in which Cuba is mired is caused by what they call the US blockade of the island.
This is how ‘Cubainformación’ presented Marco Rubio when they heard the news:an extremist, anti-communist and anti-Cuban hawk, a visceral promoter of aggression and the blockade against the island, a real architect of hunger for Cuba. As he explained in several interviews, it was he who designed the 243 coercive measures (economic sanctions), added to the criminal blockade against Cuba, which today hit each and every one of the country's sources of income, and which have ostensibly impoverished the living conditions of the Cuban population. A true criminal of the economic war against the suffering but dignified people of Cuba.
Senator Marco Rubio destroyed long ago the myth of the blockade wielded by the Castro dictatorshipa detailed analysis that disproves the Castro regime's narrative about the supposed economic blockade of Cuba in his presentations to the US Senate. His speech exposes how the Cuban government uses this theory to justify the social, political and economic deterioration that has driven Cuban citizens into extreme poverty.
Below I summarise two of Marco Rubio's presentations that defenders of Castroism's claims should listen to so that they know that the only blockade that exists against Cuba is the one created by the communist dictatorship implemented by Castroism.

HAVANA TIMES – This October 10, 2024, Cubans everywhere commemorate the 156th anniversary of the beginning of what is known in Cuban history as the “Ten Years War.” This essay is inspired by the excellent book authored by Margarita Garcia: Before Cuba Libre–The Making of Cuba’s First President: Tomas Estrada Palma (Outskirts Press, 1916; also in Spanish by Editorial Betania).
Garcia, a New Jersey-based Cuban-American university psychology professor turned historian, refutes the distortion attempts vs. the legacy of Cuba’s first elected president, Tomas Estrada-Palma, launched by the Castros’ socialist regime (in the Spanish tradition, Estrada was his paternal, and Palma his maternal patronymics).
It is customary in modern nation-states to honor the memory of their first presidents (e.g., George Washington in the US.); but socialist Cuba is a notable exception. Like all dictatorships routinely do, the Castro brothers’ government has attempted to rewrite history, disparaging its predecessors to justify its autocracy, but Estrada-Palma [TEP from now on] has been a particular target.
TEP renounced his “bourgeois” lifestyle, joining the independentist insurgents soon after the October/1868 rebellion in his native city of Bayamo, ultimately rising to the presidency of the Republic in Arms (1876–1877). However, he was captured and jailed in Spain; although released after the 1878 armistice, he was not allowed to return to Cuba.

The problem in Cuba is the worsening of a chronic economic crisis inherent to the collectivist, socialist, or communist system of centralized planning and its immobility.
They dress as cultured and civic, but their foul mouths are part of their identity that has always stood out. Communists have a viperous and offensive language that they disguise with their affected behavior. They restrain their vulgarities in the public arena, even when angry, hiding their hatred and applying it through their laws, where they institutionalize tyranny and proclaim themselves civilized and humanist, while simply being predators of freedom.
The manipulation of the civic multitude to convert it into a popular mass indoctrinated in communist ideology through discriminatory linguistics of freedom, imposed by the Castro-socialist tyranny. This type of political communication censored general and inoffensive words but representative of democracy and called them ideological deviation, such as sir, government, police station, Jesus (The Christ), and one still in force to mask the failure of the socialist system is the term blockade instead of the embargo.
In the United Nations General Assembly, every year since 1992, the Castro regime brings up the bilateral trade issue between Cuba and the United States. Still, they present it in realistic language, with the following title: "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba," resolution A/78/L.5, of October 11, 2023. This embargo allows Cuba to purchase food, medicines, and other goods from the USA.
