Radical Feminism

What is Radical Feminism?

Radical Feminism (“RF”) is a worldview and movement that sees the historical, as well as the current social, economic, and political order as oppressive. It believes in the notion of an existing male supremacy which reinforces a patriarchal system and has exploited women throughout history. RF is an offshoot of Marxism and as such, embraces the need for a complete systemic dismantling. In other words, it advocates the overthrow of the perceived patriarchal order, which is the same as saying the current system in place.

Differing greatly from traditional feminist thought and movements, which exclusively sought needed reforms within the existing order, RF is an intellectual offspring of postmodernism and consequently, cultural Marxism. It inherently adheres to the Frankfurt School’s Critical Theory paradigm. Today, RF has modulated its oppressed/oppressor format, inline with other Marxist thought frameworks, and now will typically focus its furor against and understanding of the patriarchal categorization as that of being strictly white and heterosexual males.
