Poll Finds Americans Still Favor Capitalism Over Socialism

Americans Still Favor Capitalism Over SocialismPoll Finds Americans Still Favor Capitalism Over Socialism.

Americans prefer capitalism over socialism. The difference in this choice is overwhelming. Categorically, two separate surveys confirm these findings. This is most encouraging. Creeping socialism has an aggressive promotor in the Biden-Harris administration, the Democratic Party, and the regime-like institutions of corporate media, Big Tech, and woke commercialism.

Rasmussen Reports conducted a national survey of 1,000 likely voters between April 27th and 28th. The yield was a whopping 65% of the contacted voters affirming that capitalism is superior and preferencing it as a better socio-economic model. Those espousing socialism were a mere 18%. This is a difference of over three to one. As is the custom with Rasmussen, the questions were most clear.

“Which of the following best describes the U.S. economy today—is it a generally free market economy, a partially free market economy, a partially socialist economy, or a generally socialist economy?”, was the first question. While some are suspecting of non-experts potentially get confused over the technicity of social scientific terms and categorizations, the generalized consensus that the United States economic model is a free-market economy that may oscillate at times between a mostly “generally” and/or “partially”, was evident. This depicts a far greater appreciation for the underpinnings of a free enterprise system than most pundits would credit American society for.

The second question was blunt and clear. “Which is a better system – capitalism or socialism?” Three times as many American voters, in effect, voted for capitalism, the social and economic system on which the United States was founded. Without a doubt, this does not send good signals for the revolutionary class who are at work attempting to deconstruct America. An earlier poll was even more decisive in its rejection of socialism and proclivity for the capitalist mode of structuring economic production, distribution, and the ensuing way of life it fosters.

The Heartland Institute, a public policy think tank founded in 1984, conducted a nationwide survey, also among 1,000 likely voters, between December 6th and 7th, 2020, which yielded a greater quantity of information. Working with Rasmussen on this project, the poll found that 75% of those contacted stated that they believed a free-market model to be preferable. They were asked, “Which is better – a free-market economic system or socialism?” Only 11% chose socialism.

Interestingly, The Heartland Institute conducted a similar survey in 2019 and found in that poll that support among the respondents between the ages of 18-39, increased in their support for capitalism from 59% to 68% compared to the 2020 sample. It should be added that in addition to the issue of capitalism versus socialism as a mode of ordering economic activity, the poll asked a question about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and whether they had a very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat unfavorable, or very unfavorable impression of the democratic congresswoman from New York. The highest category expressed in the 2020 Heartland Institute/Rasmussen survey, 38% of those questioned, had a “very unfavorable” opinion of AOC.

Considering that the left’s priority is the socialist makeover of the United States, it is important that the American people are not being duped into making this a closed society. If the electorate system can cast out the grenades that launched into it in 2020, the next cycle in 2022 is a do or die. The clear preference of Americans for capitalism, the best economic companion for a constitutional republic, is most heartening.
